It is alleged that therapeutic parenting is a deeply nurturing parenting style, and is especially effective for children with attachment difficulties, or who experienced childhood trauma. The Therapist believes that all children benefit from therapeutic parenting. This is because for individuals to develop a consistent pattern of behaviours and thinking there are certain ingredients that are critical in child’s development. They include, nurturing, protection/safety, predictability and stability. Therapeutic parenting can either be home based treatment and/ a face to face clinic appointment.
The Therapist will shadow parents or caregivers on issues such as behaviour management strategies. In collaboration, we will explore common problems the parent faces, from behavioural triggers to children displaying aggressive behaviours and/ sleep problems to managing such difficulties. This process is called therapeutic parenting.
